About Gateway Youth and Family Services

The Gateway Youth and Family Services division of CommonWorks is licensed by the State of Colorado as a Child Placement Agency (CPA), and specializes in the social and clinical treatment of youth.  Treatment varies according to need.  Gateway works with youth who are at-risk of being removed, or have been removed, from their homes; and provides community-based programs for youth and their families as an alternative to institutional care.

Program Goals are to:
*Build programs promoting reclaiming environments that challenge young people to fulfill their potential.

*For youth who have been removed from their homes, promote and assist the transition into a less restrictive, age appropriate living environment.

*Establish positive, age appropriate relationships for clients.

*Increase adolescents' social, educational and vocational skills thus promoting successful experiences.

*Guide youth out of destructive relationships and into learned responsibility and a sense of purpose.

*Challenge youth to find value by being of value to others.

Gateway emphasizes agency coordination, interagency communication and pooling of community resources.  By working together to pool resources, ideas and plans, agencies can jointly support youth and adolescents of our communities.  The end results are comprehensive youth services.

Offices are located in Canon City, Delta and Grand Junction with services also in Bailey, Fairplay, Montrose and Salida.
